Halkia Red is a fresh and natural vinification of the most planted blue Greek grape, Agiorgitiko, from its birthplace of Nemea.
The wine must undergoes approx. 7-daye maceration with natural fermentation in steel tanks at various temperatures. The wines was made with no additions. It was not filtered and no sulphites were added.
A red wine with notes of crushed red cherries, a bit of umami, and a whiff of salt. It is characterized by fine tannins and a long aftertaste, very easy drinkable. The color not far off that of freshly squeezed beetroot.
A perfect wine to enjoy as is, just a glass, by it self... or with the pizza or pasta or dishes with tomatoes, salt and dried herbs. And for the Christmas holidays in 2019, we found out, it pairs well with the flæskesteg and rødkål.
The wine is a very free and modern expression of Agiorgitiko, which otherwise can be masked by notes derived from an unnecessary use of oak barrels.
The wines has been travelling far these last years... amongst others to ILUKA, Meyer's Deli, Meyer's Madhus, Nørrebro Kolonial, Cibi e Vini, Spidsroden...
