Did you know...?
Roditis is the most planted green grape variety in Greece. It is the base for hundreds of everyday white wines including the traditional Greek wine, Retsina. This is perhaps the reason why the variety is often characterized as humble and for a long time has been in the shadow of white wines on the grapes e.g. Assyrtiko and Moschofilero.
In reality, Roditis is not quite a green grape variety, as the color of the grape tends to the pink, it can yield very different excellent white wines, resinated wines and has proven extraordinary for orange wine.
The white wines of Roditis are often with fine aromas and taste experiences of lime and citrus that changes to yellow fruit, tangerine, apricot, apple, orange flowers and rose leafs when in macerated versions.
